US Embassy Job Vacancy

Scot Marciel was confirmed by the Senate of the United States of America to serve as Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia.  Prior to his confirmation, Ambassador Marciel served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for the East Asia and Pacific Bureau, which is responsible for relations with Southeast Asia, and concurrently as Ambassador for ASEAN Affairs.
Ambassador Marciel, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, joined the State Department in 1985. He has served as Director of the Department’s Office of Maritime Southeast Asia, Director of the Office of Mainland Southeast Asia, and Director of the Office of Southeastern Europe.
Ambassador Marciel also has served in Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Brazil, and Turkey, as well as in the Economic Bureau’s Office of Monetary Affairs.
Ambassador Marciel grew up in Fremont, California. He is a graduate of the University of California at Davis and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.  He and his wife Mae have two daughters.

Cultural Affairs Specialist (CAS)
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

  1. Bachelor’s degree from a US accredited college or university, in marketing, business or in any liberal arts, social science field is required.
  2. Minimum five years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in marketing, management or an educational field; Extensive experience in the customer service is required.
  3. Level IV (fluent) in speaking/reading/writing English and Bahasa Indonesia are required.
  4. Must have knowledge of marketing combined with outreach skills. Must be familiar with Indonesian and US secondary and post-secondary educational systems, as a student, administrator, or instructor. Conversant knowledge of U.S. undergraduate and graduate admissions processes and requirements, including diversity of types of US colleges and universities, of financial aid requirements for international students and of educational options in the US. Must have thorough grasp of political, economic, cultural sensitivity and social trends in both Indonesia and the U.S.
  5. Must have superior interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills and strong public speaking skills. Must have sophisticated problem solving and analytical skills necessary to coordinate and lead mission wide efforts to promote study in the U.S. Must have significant abilities include analytical ability, intellectual curiosity, initiative and resourcefulness.
  6. Must be able to plan and execute programs independently and able to plan ahead in year-long cycles. Must have computer and internet research skills, training skills and management skills


Economic Clerk (EC)
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

  1. Completion of Secondary School plus two year post-secondary training in Secretarial or Administration is required.
  2. Three (3) years of familiarity working with the Indonesian private sector, Indonesian Government, and/or the U.S. Government is required.
  3. Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing both in English and Bahasa Indonesia are required. Good general translation from Bahasa Indonesia into English. General interpretation.
  4. Must have good knowledge of office procedures, word processing, and GOI (Government of Indonesia) structure.
  5. Typing skills (50WPM), word processing skills (Microsoft Word), proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, proficiency with other software systems as needed.


Cultural Affairs Assistant (CAA)
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.


  1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, computer science or related field is required.
  2. Minimum two years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in marketing/communications/public relations in an educational field or in international higher education; Extensive experience in the customer service is required.
  3. Level IV (fluent) in speaking/reading/writing English and Bahasa Indonesia are required.
  4. Must have knowledge of marketing, public relations, web design and digital outreach. Conversant knowledge of U.S. undergraduate and graduate admissions processes and requirements, including diversity of types of US colleges and universities, of financial aid requirements for international students and of educational options in the US.
  5. Must have strong writing and design skills including HTML, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr, etc. Must have basic knowledge of graphic applications like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
  6. Must have strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills and strong public speaking skills.
