Reaching a global audience of hundreds of millions of users every month through its innovative technology and engaging content and services, Yahoo! seeks a highly motivated consumer communications professional for the South East Asia region committed to delivering on Yahoo!'s vision to be the center of people's online lives.
As the lead for consumer public relations in South East Asia, this candidate will be based in Jakarta and responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive consumer communications strategy to help advance the company’s business interests in the region.
Specifically, this role will work closely as a close partner with the South East Asia marketing team to help position and enhance the Yahoo! brand as the one central trusted place where hundreds of millions of consumers connect with the people and things that matter to them most.
The successful individual will develop and deliver compelling Yahoo! consumer driven stories in print, online, and broadcast outlets around the region. They will create targeted media programs that showcase the Yahoo! brand, media properties, products, and services to consumer specific demographics. The focus of the role is making the Yahoo! brand relevant to consumer’s lifestyle needs.
A critical objective is to set the agenda and drive the company’s message to audiences in South East Asia – the media, consumers, employees, and the key industry/social media influencers who create buzz and have a significant impact on how Yahoo!’s brand is perceived.
You must be self-motivated, have excellent consumer pr skills, and be able to multi-task in a very fluid environment within a matrix organization.
Ideally the candidate would have experience working in the online community, experience in both marketing and public relations disciplines, and a strong understanding of the influential blogging community that play a vital role in building communities.

- Support various marketing initiatives or events by developing value-add consumer PR programs
- Develop a range of materials used to reach consumers, including blog posts, messaging frameworks, press releases and other materials.
- Define and deliver credible metrics used to measure the performance of consumer PR programs in South East Asia.
- Collaborate well with marketing and broader business teams to identify and maximize consumer PR opportunities
- Effectively manage agencies, with a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done
- Maintain deep understanding of competitive offerings and how they impact consumer and choices and preferences
- The effectiveness of this function directly impacts Yahoo! in the marketplace and the perceived reputation of the Yahoo! brand name.
- Success will be measured by improvements in customer and stakeholder perceptions, and the ability to anticipate issues and drive a pro-active consumer communications agenda for Yahoo! South East Asia.
Requirements:
Minimum Job Qualifications
- 4-6 years in a proven consumer communications role that has worked with senior leaders across an organization
- Strong skills in media relationships; story development; agency management; crisis management and budget management.
- Strong organizational skills
- Manage projects within a multi-functional management structure, set project timelines and deliver on schedule and on budget
- Experience working for a creative agency strongly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Extremely execution-focused and have a proven record of success in complex environments. Strong ability to work collaboratively in virtual teams.
- Comfort in a multi-tasking and highly dynamic environment is critical
- Bachelors degree required
- Broader marketing background is desirable but not essential
