The entry into force of the ASEAN Charter on 15 December 2008 had provided new impetus to ASEAN’s integration efforts by establishing a legal and institutional framework required to achieve the ASEAN Community by 2015. This includes the newly approved organisational structure of the ASEAN Secretariat that is aligned to the requirements of the Charter, the three Blueprints of the ASEAN Political‐Security Community (APSC), the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), and the ASEAN Socio‐ Cultural Community (ASCC), and the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Work Plan 2.
The ASEAN Secretariat is therefore well positioned to provide the necessary services to effectively support the community building process under the Charter and the Community Blueprints.
Currently the ASEAN Secretariat is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of
DIRECTOR CROSS‐SECTORAL COOPERATION
Requirements:
• Postgraduate degree(s)/professional qualifications, in relevant policy, management, technical, development, and/or economic fields, in as many of the areas under the purview of the Directorate.
• Sound in‐depth regional and international experience in public policy development, negotiation and implementation, in as many of the areas under the purview of the Directorate, and experience in briefing ministers and high level senior officials, preferably at the ASEAN level or in the region,
• Strong corporate, strategic and business planning skills.
• Strong leadership, management and administration capabilities.
• Sound understanding of international and regional issues, and knowledge of and commitment to ASEAN ideals.
• Extensive management experience, with a minimum of ten (10) years in a senior management position, preferably in a regional or international organization.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff in a dynamic and demanding environment.
• Adequate financial, physical and human resource management skills.
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, including experience in cross‐cultural environments and international settings.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with government representatives, public and private sector organisations and other stakeholders.

• Postgraduate Degree in Environmental Management, Development Studies related to environment, Natural Resource Management, Forestry or other appropriate specialist discipline.
